Submit a Job or Call
How to Submit
Submissions for jobs and calls (fellowships, grants, residencies, calls for publication, etc.) are very welcome, though please review the criteria below and the Archive before submitting. If you have something you think is suited for the list, email the following information to rachel@wordsofmouth.org.
What: Job/opportunity title and listing PDF or live URL
Who: Company name and URL
Where: City, State/Province
Whether you currently work at the hiring organization
Unfortunately I can’t reply to every submission. If it's a good fit, you'll hear from me!
All submissions are free. If I accept a listing for publication, I will request a donation of $75-$95 (or more if you’re able)—but I will never turn down or accept submissions based on your ability to donate.
A bit about WoM readers
The newsletter goes out to over 55,000 people every week and maintains an open rate of over 75%.
Readers are located in almost every state in the US, (plus some internationals), with heavy concentration in New York, and secondary crowds in metro areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and Philadelphia.
Among them are designers, artists, museum workers, writers and editors, filmmakers, activists, civic technologists, PhD students, librarians and archivists, interdisciplinary researchers, career changers, and recent undergrads searching for their first job.
Criteria
Words of Mouth shares interdisciplinary opportunities across many fields.
I feature hiring organizations working to create (what I determine to be) a net positive impact. Within that, I choose listings based on their capacity to:
support creative activity, growth, or daydreams,
increase access to knowledge and services,
break down or combat systemic oppression,
preserve or support cultural production,
leverage design, technology, or the arts for people or planet over profit,
expand social, political, and economic opportunity, or
fight forces endangering any of the above
